LiveAuctioneers.com, which facilitates online bidding for auction houses using eBay Live Auctions, said it is set to launch streaming audio and video for live online auctions on August 29.

The company said eBay's 230 million worldwide users will have, for the first time, the opportunity to see and hear live auctions from their desktops. Bidders will see the auctioneer interact with the audience and hear the bang of the gavel.

"This technology will bring the live-auction experience to an entirely new audience who may never before have stepped onto an auction floor," said LiveAuctioneers.com CEO, Julian Ellison. "In seeing and hearing the auction as it takes place, bidders will feel even more comfortable and secure when transacting online. During our testing phase, we've seen significant increases in bidder participation when auction houses use our streaming audio and video technology."

David Rago Auctions is among the first auction houses to take advantage of the technology. CEO and Partner Miriam Tucker said, "Providing sight and sound to online bidders builds connections between buyers and sellers, bringing to all the full auction experience."

To view or participate in one of LiveAuctioneers.com's auctions with streaming audio and video, visit LiveAuctioneers.com. The following auctions will be using the technology:

  • August 29, Dallas Auction Gallery
  • August 31, Garth's
