eBay.co.uk launch a new category called "Local Services" in July 2007 and made it free through October 16, 2007. On Thursday, it announced it would extend the free listing period indefinitely. In addition, eBay is increasing the fee for using Featured Plus in the Local Services category £9.95 to £19.95 beginning October 17th. All other feature fees will stay the same.

Listings in the Local Services category are available in the Classified Ad format only, with a 28-day listing duration. eBay is aiming the category at local service providers. eBay launched a similar category in Australia in April of this year (http://services.ebay.com.au).

eBay.com has had a "Classified Ad" listing format, formerly called Ad Format, since early 2006 - Classified Ad transactions are non-binding and appear alongside auctions and fixed-price listings in eBay search results.
