Jordan Banks is leaving eBay Canada after 7 years, and eBay has appointed Andrew Sloss the interim Country Manager for eBay Canada. Banks was appointed Managing Director of eBay Canada in 2005. Last year after eBay made changes to fees and search exposure for eBay Store listings, Banks made a public posting that it was becoming more evident every day "that the economic realities for Canadians trying to sell on eBay are getting progressively more difficult," and he promised to make seller profitability a priority at eBay Canada.
Andrew Sloss is taking over for Banks after 6 years at eBay, most recently heading marketing for eBay Canada, a role in which he oversaw the company's marketing strategy and execution within Canada. Last year Sloss played an instrumental role in the successful launch of eBay.ca in French.
Sloss now becomes eBay's senior executive in Canada, assuming overall responsibility for all of eBay Canada's operations, including marketing, finance, business analytics and building and supporting eBay's community of users in Canada. Prior to joining eBay Canada in 2002, he spent five years at Bain & Company in Toronto and Chicago. He will continue to be based in Toronto, Ontario.
