eBay has been testing the optimal length of time to keep the Buy It Now (BIN) option available on auction listings, even after bids are placed. In the US, it has been conducting tests in the Parts & Accessories category on eBay Motors and the Tickets category on eBay.com since late June. On Tuesday, eBay said it was "encouraged" by results of the testing and will expand it to the Clothing, Shoes & Accessories and the Cell Phones & PDAs categories.
eBay also said it would start testing in the same categories on eBay Canada, and site-wide in several international markets. AuctionBytes reported on Monday that eBay Australia was making a change so that the BIN option would remain available on auction listings until bidding reached 50% of the BIN amount. Normally the BIN price disappears once a shopper bids on the listing (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m10/i16/s01).
