Qwizzy.com is a new tool that lets users set up an interactive Question and Answer widget so visitors can ask questions, and the publisher can answer and display on their website. Online sellers, bloggers and website publishers can put a Qwizzy widget on their blogs or websites to help create a more engaging experience.
Qwizzy cofounder Adam Ostrow is also Editor of Mashable, a news site about social networking. When asked about the intersection of social networking and ecommerce, he said social networks like Facebook don't need to be the ecommerce platform themselves. He said ecommerce platforms such as eBay can offer social networking features, such as reviews and "ask questions" features like Qwizzy, rather than just seeing static FAQs on a page, for example.
Ostrow thought Qwizzy could be an extremely useful tool for eBay sellers who wanted to offer a "public FAQ" and was surprised when eBay told him the widget violated its links policy. He said "it's unfortunate they are taking a closed approach" and said eBay rejected his request to go through the developers program API.
Right now Qwizzy is being used by tech bloggers and social networking bloggers, Ostrow said. He's trying to integrate with platforms, such as Facebook, and sees revenue potential through advertising and market research. (Qwizzy is free for users.) Qwizzy is launching a Facebook application in 2-3 weeks.
