Dawdle Launches Online Marketplace for Gamers
By Ina Steiner

November 07, 2007

Dawdle is a new online marketplace for gamers that dynamically matches buyers and sellers. Sellers pay 50 cents to list an item and a commission fee of 11.99 percent of the item's selling price - including shipping. The listing fee is credited against the commission fee, and listing fees are waived through December 31, 2007.

Dawdle handles the payment processing - buyers pay with credit card, and Dawdle pays sellers via ACH payment to their checking accounts on the 1st and 15th of every month. The Dawdle website has FAQs on problems and disputes (http://www.dawdle.com/help/buy-problems.php), but does not provide details about how it handles disputes over items not received.

Dawdle uses terminology specific to gaming, making it easy for sellers to list items and for buyers to find specific merchandise. Sellers can list items in five seconds with no need to manage images, listings, or buyer feedback. Items listed on the site must be in perfect working condition with no more than moderate cosmetic damage.

The site dynamically matches buyers and sellers - buyers tell Dawdle what they want and what they are willing to pay; sellers tell Dawdle what they have and their minimum price. Dawdle said buyers do not have to continuously visit the site in search of new listings; the service finds what buyers want and purchases it for them. When a match is made, the buyer and seller are alerted via email that the item has been sold.

The Dawdle website launched on Tuesday.
