eBay, PayPal and Shopping.com Name 'Green Monday' Busiest Shopping Day

eBay announced that December 10th marked the busiest online shopping day of the year for eBay Inc. companies. Data from eBay indicates that online shopping peaks on the second Monday in December and named the second Monday in December "Green Monday" as a result of the increased online shopping activity.
According to data from PayPal, the second Monday in December has been the busiest online shopping day of the year since 2001, and the volume continues to grow. For example, Green Monday 2006 saw a 33 percent increase in PayPal payment volume from 2005.
Shopping.com experienced record-breaking holiday shopping activity on December 10, 2007, with 54 percent growth year-over-year in traffic to its merchant partners. "Green Monday" activity on Shopping.com peaked between 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. PT yesterday
Some of the most popular gifts purchased on eBay on Monday included: Webkinz Reindeer Pet, selling for an average price of $12.98; Krups Espresso Maker, selling for an average price of $53.61; American Girl Dolls, selling for an average price of $104.39; Volkl Supersport Allstar Men’s downhill ski, selling for an average price of $474.99; and Nintendo Wii video game console, selling for an average price of $421.63.
