Amazon.com said 2007 was its best holiday season to date and reported that the busiest holiday shopping day was December 10 with over 5.4 million items ordered that day. The company said on the peak day this season, its worldwide fulfillment network shipped over 3.9 million units and shipped to over 200 countries.
Yahoo Shopping said it experienced a strong holiday season, with a 40 percent page-view growth over last year. Cyber Monday (November 26) was its busiest holiday shopping day. The Toy category saw the highest growth rate, with searches for information and products within the Toy category rising 18 percent year-over-year. It cited the top ten product categories for the 2007 holiday season as Apparel; Electronics; Home and Garden; Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles; Computers and Software; Jewelry; Sports and Outdoors; Video Games; Beauty; and Automotive.
Meanwhile research firm Comscore reported that consumers spent nearly $28 billion - an increase of 19 percent from last year - during the first 57 days of the 2007 holiday season (November 1 – December 27).
