Online payment service Moneybookers has appointed Martin Ott its Managing Director. Ott will be working alongside Dr. Nikolai Riesenkampff, who has been managing the company since May 2005. In his new position Ott will be responsible for ecommerce, marketing, product and service operations.
Previously, Ott was COO of Jamster (a News Corp./ Verisign company) where he developed and led the worldwide country operations in almost 40 countries as well as the marketing, production, content and licensing divisions. Ott studied business administration at the WHU - Beisheim School of Management in Koblenz, Germany, as well as in Tokyo and Moscow. Before his role at Jambster, Ott was CEO for Tokyo based web portal Eken K.K.
London-based Moneybookers provides domestic payment options in more than 35 countries and customer service in 12 languages, and said it made the strategic hire "to support its aggressive targets for growth within the ecommerce industry and the development of its local services." In 2007, more than 7,000 merchants used Moneybookers' gateway product, among them global ecommerce brands such as Skype, Foto.com, and QXL ricardo, and the company has over 4 million account holders.
