The owner and publisher of Book Sale Finder won a contest co-sponsored by Woman's Day magazine and the American Libraries Association. The theme of the contest was "How I started a business with the help of libraries," and 4 winners were chosen from thousands of entries.

Helen Oram's winning essay describes how she and her husband built their successful website, BookSaleFinder.com, using help from librarians and Friends of Library groups throughout the USA and Canada. Beginning in 1994, they published 3 editions of a book telling where book sales can be found. By 1997, they had expanded the business to take advantage of the Internet revolution.

"I hope this helps motivate others to use the unparalleled resources of their local libraries, and I especially hope that they will attend used book sales," said Oram. "Our motto is: Good Books at Good Prices for a Good Cause - Everybody Wins."
