Amazon Announces Changes to Marketplace Order Numbers
By Ina Steiner
EcommerceBytes.com
March 24, 2008

Amazon.com said it would begin introducing additional prefixes to Marketplace order numbers beginning in late March. Currently, the first 3 digits of Marketplace order numbers are "058." Soon, Amazon.com will add additional prefixes to support increasing order volumes. The length and formatting of the order number will not be changing (17 digits with a dash after the three-digit prefix and also after the tenth digit). Amazon.com reminded sellers to check their order management system to make sure they are able to process orders that begin with a range of different 3-digit prefixes.
