General Manager of eBay North America Stephanie Tilenius told attendees at the ChannelAdvisor Catalyst conference on Wednesday to expect pricing changes any time. Writing about the conference keynote address, eBay's new blogger Richard Brewer-Hay (see http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y08/m04/i02/s01) said the concept of an annual price change would no longer existed at eBay and that further pricing adjustments could come at any time. He also said Tilenius promised "even bolder and faster changes at eBay, stating that eBay's goal is to deliver a more retail-like experience." Tamebay's Chris Dawson was blogging from the conference and said of Tilenius' comments on pricing changes:

eBay.com are to introduce category specific pricing across the site. Stephanie said that by this time next year eBay.com will be unrecognisable in comparison to today. eBay.com are behind eBay UK on pricing, the UK were first to introduce specific pricing for media and technology categories. In the future pricing will be much more sensitive to the different markets, and the expectation is that insertion fees will drop further with emphasis on aligning eBay's success will seller's success.
