eBay Canada lowered certain PayPal fees for Canadian customers, effective immediately. PayPal's Canadian dollar transaction fees for receiving payments decrease from C$0.55 per transaction to C$0.30 for all merchant rate tiers. For example, a merchant with up to $3,000 in PayPal monthly sales will pay 2.9% of the transaction plus 30 cents, instead of 2.9% plus 55 cents.
PayPal also lowered currency conversion rates for withdrawing US dollar funds to Canadian dollar bank accounts. The new exchange rate depends on sellers' monthly sales volume and whether they qualify for a Merchant Rate.
The former currency conversion rate had been 2.5% across the board. Under the new rates, merchants with monthly PayPal sales of $3,000 and below will see no change in rate. Merchants with monthly sales between $3,000 - $125,000 will receive a conversion rate of 1.5%, and merchants with monthly PayPal sales of greater than $125,000 will receive a rate of 1%.
