A Walmart.com spokesperson confirmed that the etailer had launched a classifieds site, which is in beta. Walmart.com spokesperson Ravi Jariwala said:
We recently launched Walmart.com Classifieds beta to provide additional opportunities for our customers to save money and live better. This free, community-based resource allows customers to buy and sell items locally, find local jobs and learn about events in their area.
Our new Classifieds beta at Walmart.com provides an expanded offering of products and services, the majority of which are not traditionally available from Wal-Mart, such as job listings, automobiles, rentals and real estate. It also further connects our community of 130 million customers who shop the Wal-Mart brand each week
The site is hosted by Oodle.com, an aggregator of classifieds from over 80,000 websites, including eBay's Kijiji, Craigslist. Oodle also syndicates listings - published by local marketplaces or directly posted by consumers - across the Web. Oodle listings appear on over 200 sites with over 500k new listings a day, according to information on the Oodle website.
Visitors to the Walmart.com Classifieds site can post items for sales for free, and have the listings show up throughout the Oodle network.
