The Australia-based online auction site OZtion has been in the news of late. This week Jumbuck announced it was acquiring OZtion for $1 million cash and $1 million in Jumbuck shares. And the site has also been getting attention as sellers protest eBay's move to a PayPal-only policy in Australia. OZtion said it has seen an increase in registered users and sales as a result of eBay's new policy.
But aside from the vast difference in size of the two companies, there is a major difference between OZtion and eBay: OZtion is open only to sellers who are residents of Australia and New Zealand. OZtion General Manager Philip Druce said, "We have no immediate plans on changing that restriction, but may look into allowing sellers from other countries later."
While the site limits sellers, Druce said, residents from over 20 different countries can purchase items from OZtion, including the following: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States.
