The Friedman Foundation for Educational choice announced that Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne has been unanimously elected co-chairman of the board. The Friedman Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1996 and is an advocate of vouchers for school choice. Byrne, an education reformer, was the primary supporter of Utah's Referendum One, a campaign that pushed for Utah to become the first state in the nation to enact a universal school voucher program. He is also the Founder of First Class Education and has funded private school scholarships for low-income families in Utah. Byrne was named CEO of Overstock.com in 1999.
