Shopflick launched an online video-shopping marketplace where independent sellers connect with shoppers directly through their own custom branded online stores.
"Shopflick is the marriage of online shopping and video, where users experience the stories, creativity and depth that are largely absent from today's ecommerce," said David Grant, Shopflick's Co-Founder and CEO. "We are connecting shoppers directly to a growing community of quality, independent sellers and their unique items, with online video and social features that give a much deeper sense of the products and the passionate people behind them."
Shoppers get informative and entertaining video in addition to the typical commerce experience on other sites, as well the ability to browse by category, keyword, or tag. They can also join Shopflick's community by creating a profile and sharing their favorite stores and products and watch Shopflick TV, which features original video content, profiles, and event coverage about the worlds of fashion, beauty, art, and music.
Shopflick enables sellers of all sizes to use video as an integral part of their online store experience. Shopflick markets sellers' stores and empowers them to promote their own stores by embedding store videos across the web on social networks like MySpace and Facebook, blogs and their own websites.
Shopflick will waive monthly Store fees for 6 months (normally $9.95/$19.95 per month) until October 31, 2008. There is a 12.5% transaction fee on products sold.
Shopflick opened with over 160 stores online, including an eclectic mix of entrepreneurs, boutiques and artists, ranging from LA-based boutique Intuition; NY-based jewelry designer, Lisa Levine; Eco-friendly fashion designers, The Battalion; LA-based indie band, Malbec; Brooklyn-based sustainable furniture designers, Uhuru Design; and Raquel Allegra, a designer who recycles LA County jailhouse rags into works of art.
Shopflick is a venture-backed company led by top executives from News Corp, eBay and Fox Interactive.
