Reading AuctionBytes: eBay Optimized for Cell Phones & iPhones

eBay announced it will begin automatically redirecting mobile users to its mobile platform, which is optimized for cell phones. If you access the core eBay site from your cell phone's browser, you'll be automatically redirected to m.ebay.com or iphone.ebay.com (for iPhone users).

eBay is also running a promotion in which it is waiving the 25-cent fee for text messages (SMS messages) for eBay Alerts. eBay Mobile Text Alerts is a premium text message service which allows you to stay up to date with the status of the listing your are bidding on or watching. The promotion runs through November 4, 2008.

In addition, iRibbit announced that Apple has approved its first app for the iPhone: iRibbit Plus - eBay on the iPhone. It is available on the Apple app store through iTunes and is the iPhone SDK version of the app iribbit created last year as a web version and won the 2008 Star Developer award from eBay.
