The Australian IT news site reports that the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will meet with top executives from eBay Australia and PayPal "to review their alleged anti-competitive behaviour" next month. According to Australian IT, the RBA will look at eBay's policy requiring sellers accept PayPal, and will "look into surcharges applied for using PayPal and eBay's conduct in allegedly misleading customers into thinking that PayPal was the only payment method on its website."
The RBA had indicated its intention to meet with PayPal last month after the August 15, 2008, meeting of RBA's Payments System Board, which considered the no-surcharge and no-steering rules imposed on users of PayPal.
