Reading AuctionBytes: eBay Australia Adds 'Best Offer' Functionality

eBay Australia is adding "Best Offer" functionality across all categories on eBay.com.au for items listed in fixed price or classified ad format. Best Offer is an optional feature that sellers can choose in order to give buyers the ability to negotiate with them on price. Seller can accept, decline, or counteroffer Best Offers.

According to the announcement, the "Best Offer" feature on listings boosts conversion rates an average of 10 percent, according to eBay.com data from May - September 2008. According to eBay.com help files, the feature is used mostly for high-price items such as cars, boats, and jewelry.

Best Offer won't be supported by Turbo Lister or most third party listing tools in Australia until next year. In the meantime, sellers can use the Sell Your Item form, Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro.
