WorthPoint, which recently completed its acquisition of GoAntiques, an online network for buying and selling antiques and collectibles, sent a letter recently to dealers to update them on recent changes. WorthPoint said it would have two auction venues for members. One is a live-auctions format that will move from eBay Live Auctions (which is closing at the end of the year) to the Proxibid platform. The other is a timed auction that WorthPoint said is similar in format to those on eBay, but with a focus only on art, antiques and collectibles, and "terms, structures and features will cater to our industry."
WorthPoint also introduced new pricing structures for GoAntiques/WorthPoint effective November 1, 2008. A monthly Basic Site Store that only appears on GoAntiques website and the current distribution network (Google product search, BobVila.com, etc.) will be priced at $49 with no retail sales commissions; the price for new dealers after December 31, 2008, will be $59 with no commission fees. Current GoAntiques members have the option of staying with their current plan. WorthPoint is granting current GoAntiques dealers "Founding status," which will give them additional exposure at no extra charge.
GoAntiques also has plans to integrate with PayPal.
