In November, AuctionBytes reported on eBay and Amazon.com traffic data, revealing that while Amazon's page views were down by 1.13 percent in October year-over year (YoY), eBay's page view's were down 32.61 percent. Today Nielsen-Online provided new weekly traffic data for the months of October and November. The new data shows Amazon.com's unique audience numbers continue to catch up to eBay's numbers.
Meanwhile ComScore reported that during the first week since Cyber Monday (December 1 - December 7), ecommerce sales were up 7 percent versus year ago. However, for the holiday season to date (November 1 - December 7), ecommerce sales are flat at $15.6 billion.
"Cyber Monday kicked off a week of modest growth in online spending, and, hopefully, reflects what will occur over the final weeks leading up to Christmas," said comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni. "The compressed shopping period between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year means that there is now a greater sense of urgency in order to get all of one's shopping completed in time. With many consumers likely to rely on the convenience of online shopping in these final weeks, I hope to see this positive momentum continue as we count down the days to Christmas."
