eBay Australia announced on Tuesday several changes that require sellers to update their listings and/or templates. The changes are all effective beginning in early March. The first change is to eBay's pre-sale policy that prohibits sellers from listings items not in their possession at the time of listing (pre-release DVDs, for example). Pre-sale items will be allowed on eBay.com.au only if the seller guarantees that the item will be posted to the buyer within 20 days from payment.
eBay Australia is also changing its Postage and Handling policy, updating the recent introduction of limits to the amount that can be charged for the first flat-rate domestic postage in a small number of categories. The policy prohibits sellers from charging postage and handling fees that are "excessive, inaccurate, misleading, unreasonable or unnecessary."
Finally, from mid-March, all new listings will be required to include handling time and information about whether the seller accepts returns.
