Reading AuctionBytes: Amazon FPS Gives 90-Days of Free Payment-Processing

Amazon Payments is offering free payment processing for the first 90 days for applications built and launched on Amazon FPS (Flexible Payments Service). An announcement tells developers, "Build your ecommerce, digital goods, online services or social networking application using Amazon FPS and get free payment processing for the first 90 days until total transaction volume reaches $500,000."

ShopVisible is an example of a third-party developer who has integrated Amazon Payments into its solution for online retailers. In a recent press release announcing the integration, ShopVisible CEO Sean Cook said, "It's simple for ShopVisible clients to add Amazon Payments to their sites because many Amazon features, like Amazon Checkout, are integrated into our platform, which means no custom development required, no third-party vendor requests, or lengthy testing periods to get it up and running. Additionally, the Amazon Payments system helps online retailers make more money because consumers trust the Amazon brand and transaction experience, so buyers are much more likely to click the "buy now" button and execute online transactions."

Amazon.com said it is also launching Amazon FPS Quick Starts, a simplified set of APIs that ease integration while maintaining the flexibility of Amazon FPS.

Update: Terms of the promotion can be found here, participants must register by March 15, 2009 and must launch a live payment application using the Amazon Flexible Payment Service before June 1, 2009.
