eBay.com.au and Universal Music Australia have partnered to launch a music portal on eBay Australia. The new eBay music category portal offers access to downloadable music along with access to eBay's traditional music category items. However, shoppers are sent to Universal Music's website to listen to MP3s and to make purchases.
The music downloads are offered through Universal's music platform getmusic.com.au, which charges $1.59 a track and $15.99 for an album. eBay said traditional music category items would appear alongside the portal linking visitors to getmusic.com.au's digital downloads. The announcement stated, "We believe the ability to access digitally downloaded music via eBay will enhance the buyer experience and keep buyers coming back to eBay."
