MySpace has launched a classifieds service in Canada after launching the MySpace Classifieds channel in the United States last year. Classifieds aggregator and search engine Oodle is powering both services as part of its network that includes Walmart.com, newspapers, and another social networking site - Facebook.
Oodle CEO Craig Donato wrote about the benefits of social classifieds on the Oodle blog that includes added transparency since user profiles are linked to each listing, and the ability for users to quickly spread the word about what they're selling or share information about what they are looking for through MySpace bulletins and blogs. Every listing also has a forum for asking questions or sharing additional details about listing.
Susan McGill, Executive Director at MySpace Canada, wrote in a press statement, "Online transactions depend on trust, and by allowing users to understand who they are selling to and buying from, MySpace can help lift the veil of anonymity that can some times cause anxiety for any of the parties involved. This is the next level of online classifieds which will give users a great experience in a trusted environment of people they know."
