AuctionBytes editor Ina Steiner interviewed Alibaba.com's Training Manager Karen Siegel Fitting about the company's new training program for online sellers. Alibaba.com has 1.25 million registered members in the U.S. (almost half are businesses with between 1 - 5 employees), and 40 million registered members from 240 countries around the world. The new training program is designed to help small retailers and entrepreneurs connect with suppliers domestically and internationally.
The Buyers Basics training series will teach entrepreneurs and businesses how to contact suppliers with confidence. The first session, Sourcing Products, will cover the best way to find and contact suppliers. The second, Dealing With Suppliers, will delve deeper into the buyer/seller relationship and cover following-up and vetting suppliers, as well as, negotiating and closing the deal.
In addition to the Buyers Basics training, Alibaba.com plans to roll out a similar webinar series by the end of the year aimed at U.S. suppliers who want to bring their products to retailers around the world.
