Google Base is making some changes in the way users can upload items. For merchants who submit inventory, this means they may no longer upload one product listing at a time. According to a post on the Google Base blog, "Most providers submit multiple items at a time, using our data feed or API upload options. As a result, we're planning on retiring this single item upload functionality in Base in a few weeks."
In addition, Google said that in order to keep listings fresh, items older than May 1, 2009, with no expiration date or an expiration date far in the future will soon expire. Additionally, draft items and items uploaded through the "One at a time" option will be deleted after expiration.
Online sellers use Google Base to upload inventory so that it shows up in both Google natural search and in Google Product Search, also known as Google Shopping. Some online marketplaces upload inventory on behalf of their merchants automatically using the data feed.
