Alibris, a marketplace for new and second-hand books, announced the upcoming launch of a new partnership with Buy.com. Beginning in November, Alibris will be sending U.S. sellers' books, music, and movie inventory to Buy.com, where it will be made available to over 12 million customers across the United States.
The Alibris "List here. Sell everywhere" program includes partners such as Amazon.com, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Blackwell's and Half.com, as well as the controversial Better World Books. Alibris said its partnership with Buy.com is similar to its partnership with Half.com and eBay. Standard business partner commissions will apply; there will not be any special fees on books, movies, and music sold through Buy.com. Packslips will automatically be imprinted with the Buy.com logo and return instructions, and customer service will be handled by Alibris.
