Mr. Pekarek explained some of the techniques antiques and collectibles dealers use to improve their online presence to help boost sales. Advice ranged from the basics, such as having good product photos, to social networking and public relations.
Story-telling can be an important tool for making items appealing to collectors, according to Mr. Pekarek. In item descriptions, consider including the history of the item and the era it come from; what was it used for; if it was ever owned by a historical figure or has a significant history of its own; and any special features (such as a hidden compartment). In addition, he said consider describing who would like such an item, and what the item can be used for.
