Amazon Services announced the "new Amazon WebStore" and is making it available to sellers on a selective, invitation-only basis. This is the company's new take on WebStore by Amazon launched in 2006 that lets online sellers set up their own storefront using Amazon technology.
Amazon said there would be new fees for the new Webstore but did not release details. Sellers currently pay a subscription fee of $59.95/month and a 7 percent commission for Webstore by Amazon.
WebStore by Amazon enables online sellers to build and operate an ecommerce business and integrates with other Amazon services including Selling on Amazon and Fulfillment by Amazon. So what exactly is new? According to the website:
Enhanced setup wizard makes it quick and easy to launch your online business.
New design tools and widgets provide increased flexibility and control of site design and merchandizing.
Improved catalog and inventory control for easier merchandizing without IT support.
Unified interface to easily track and manage offers, inventory, and orders across channels.
New pricing that scales with your business.
Several sellers are using the new WebStore and Amazon will initially offer a limited number of invitations to the program each day. Sellers can request an invitation to the beta on the Amazon website. If you are an existing seller registered for Selling on Amazon, you must be a subscription-based, Pro merchant to be eligible to register for Amazon WebStore.
