The Wall Street Journal reported that eBay is launching its Fashion Vault website on Monday. The article said at least one of the brands that participated in eBay's Fashion Vault trials was not planning to participate again. eBay's Fashion Vault had four sales in the fall:
Cole Haan
Hugo Boss
DKNY
Max Mara and Marina Rinaldi
The Fashion Vault features designer fashion from "trusted sellers and designers" during 2- to 3-day sales events (see this November AuctionBytes news article announcing the launch of Fashion Vault). The next "flash sale" featuring French Connection is scheduled to take place at 8 am PST Monday morning.
In January, eBay CEO John Donahoe told analysts that it had experienced early success with its Fashion Vault pilot sales, which are a spin on sites such as Gilt Groupe, RueLaLa and HauteLook, and Vente-Privee in France.
