[Ann Castle is a successful auction seller. She will periodically share tips on selling. Today, she shares two tips on how to be more organized.]

Tip # 1: Mouse Pad & Ruler in One!

I recently moved my computer to its new station where I can stand and work or sit and work and wrap stuff all in one dandy horseshoe arrangement.

I was just about ready attach the tape measure to the edge of the counter top when I noticed that I had a small Rotary Mat and decided to see what my mouse would do on that surface. A Rotary Mat is a cutting base that heals itself and is charted with inch square measurements. See Figure (1) They come in various sizes and are very popular with crafts folks and quilters. They are green with yellow markings and are made by Olfa.

Rotary Mats can be a bit pricey, but I put one that is about 12 X 18 up to the edge of my counter and use it as a mouse pad, and it is perfect for measuring books, as all sizes are marked with inch marks and increments. Since my mouse now has a large area to work on, it is easy to stand and work and not have to be right in front of the computer. Even on a desk, if you have item that need to have sizes put into the descriptions, this is a wonderful surface, clearly marked and easily cleaned. The one I am using costs about $20 in the stores.

Tip # 2: Spice Up Your Packing Area!

I have one of those spinning spice holders (made by Rubbermaid) in my shipping area so that I can easily move big packages for easier taping. See Figure (2). I first seal the bottom of the box and place it on the spinner. Then I pack the box and can easily move it to tape it all around. I picked up my spinning spice holder at a garage sale, but you can get a good one at any housewares department for less than $6.
