Welcome back, RoadRunner customers! We've been attempting to manually send you issues since the service blocked the server where our list-host is located. It's a long story, but demonstrates how imperfect the Internet is.
Attention Hotmail users, you may be next! We have heard that Hotmail users won't be able to retrieve email from other POP accounts for free anymore. In fact, eBay recently encountered problems sending email to Hotmail users, who weren't getting their end-of-auction notices as a result. http://www.msnbc.com/news/764160.asp If you are a Hotmail user, you may want to consider subscribing to AuctionBytes-Update through another email service.
And viruses continue to be a problem. The latest fear is viruses that infect digital photo files http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,53196,00.html .
I was intending to do an eBay Live convention preview, but time did not permit a full-fledged article. Here are some tidbits, however. (eBay Live is an eBay event offering classes and an exhibit hall in Anaheim, California, June 21-24. Remember to email me if you are going or if you want me to seek out answers while I'm there.)
eBay has signed up 3,000 attendees so far.
Adam Cohen will be signing copies of his book about eBay, "The Perfect Store"
PayPal is throwing a VIP party Friday night, invitations went out Friday via email.
BidPay will have popcorn and give-aways at their booth, and will be having a drawing each day for $100 American Express gift checks.
The CollectingChannel.com Ask The Appraiser service will have an appraiser at the eBay jewelry booth doing free appraisals Friday evening.
Zoovy is arranging meetings for anyone who is interested in learning more about their services: send an email to ebaylive@zoovy.com .
SquareTrade will be offering special sessions on the basics of Feedback Removal and Building Buyer Trust. They are also demonstrating new product offerings coming soon, and visitors to the booth will get special discounts and giveaways.
Apologies to the many vendors I've left out, there will be lots going on. If you live near Anaheim and sell online, it seems it will be a worthwhile event.
