With Halloween behind us, it means there are only 7 and a half weeks before Christmas! This year, there are only 26 shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and some economists are forecasting slower than average retail sales.
eBay CEO Meg Whitman told analysts last week that early signs for holiday sales looked good. Forrester Research said that proven leaders Amazon.com and eBay will help boost online retail sales to at least $20 billion for the fourth quarter, although the dockworker's strike, threat of war, and waning consumer confidence will keep eCommerce growth at bay. http://www.auctionbytes.com/pages/abn/y02/m10/i30/s02
I never heard of John de Graaf before last week, but I like the way he thinks. De Graaf is an independent television producer for KCTS/9 in Seattle, and he has long been concerned that most Americans are overworked and suffer from lack of leisure time. "We need a national conversation about our values," de Graaf said. "When we don't have enough time, it affects everything in our lives, from family and health to the environment."
