The 'Bloke in the Pub' Online Auction Site

Everyone in the UK knows a "Bloke in the Pub" - an archetypal British character who knows everything. Now there is a Bloke in the Pub auction site. A husband and wife team (Dave and Maria Carter from Somerset, UK) run the site.

"We launched the Bloke in the Pub online auction after several years of using eBay. We felt that there was a real need for an auction site with "real people" behind it, with personality and a twist of humour. As auction users and full-time Web Designers, we felt we had the experience and in-house resources required to develop a good online auction."

Dave said his site offers free basic listings, small charges for premium listing options and a competitive closing fee structure. It also offers image uploading and 3 free images per auction and a bulk lister. The site is compatible with Auction Tamer software. To reduce the potential for fraudulent activity, The Bloke in the Pub requires all new users provide details of a valid credit card at registration.

"We've used a back-to-basics approach whilst also ensuring that we have all of the essential features. Whilst UK based, we are very keen to open our doors to English-speaking users worldwide. To this end, we will very soon be introducing multi-currency support, whereby users can list auctions in the currency of their choice."
