It has warmed up to 2 degrees this morning in Natick (near Boston), with wind chills of 12 below. You know it's been a bad winter when temperatures in the 30s seem warm! The good news is, the days are getting longer (it's still bright out at 5 o'clock), and Spring is right around the corner.
I'm happy to report that Craig Stark is back with an article on simple book repair for booksellers. Craig's articles have always been immensely popular, and we get frequent requests for more of his writing. Well, now you can get pure, unadulterated Craig in a brand new email newsletter called, "The Bookologist."
We hope Bookologist will prove to be a popular newsletter, helping booksellers navigate the online waters. When David dreamed up the name Bookologist, Craig said, "It conjures up the image of a place to come for book-selling therapy, assistance, etc." I hope you will find Bookologist as comfortable as your local corner bookstore. Come on in and pull up a chair, browse the shelves, chat with fellow book-lovers. The Bookologist will be a place to learn, share - and get therapy!
Bookologist will officially launch in April, but you can sign up now for a subscription at http://www.bookologist.com.
I'm also pleased to announce that Froogle, Google's shopping search engine, has begun indexing our paid Buyer's Market classified listings. David submitted a direct data feed to Froogle in early January, but didn't want to announce it until items had actually started showing up in searches. Here's an example of how a Buyer's Market listing is indexed in Froogle: http://tinyurl.com/5h3p.
We're very optimistic about Froogle's potential to search retail sites. David noticed that listings included in Froogle's search engine are garnering 5 to 6 times the page views as non-Froogle listings. If you're interested in drawing traffic to your retail site, I encourage you to check out Froogle. If you're interested in becoming part of the Buyer's Market, you can find more information here: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/pages/market/faqs.
Now on to another issue of AuctionBytes-Update. Happy reading!
