Reading AuctionBytes: Letters from Readers
I mentioned pop-up ads in my editorial last issue and got several letters.
Ina, The best solution I've found for stopping pop-ups is switching to Mozilla as a browser. Mozilla allows you to stop pop-ups, while not shutting down java/javascript entirely. I still keep Internet Explorer on all my machines, for the few sites that aren't compatible with Mozilla, but I rarely use it.
Dear Ina, Hi, I still love Auctionbytes and I think you are doing a wonderful service.
Awhile back my email address got spammed. I currently use the old dialup :-( method with ATT. When I got spammed they advised me to download all the microsoft critical patches and to change my email program. I was using Outlook 2000.
ATT advised either Eudora or Mozilla. I checked out both and decided on using Mozilla not only their email but their browser. VERY very secure, calendar and email all integrated, similar to Outlook but different. Mozilla's browser is noted for their security. But the best thing is I never get pop up ads, where with Windows even with Pop up ad software, which I was using, I still got popups that would just sit there and click.
I thought I would give you a heads up if you dislike pop up ads, Mozilla is a nice alternative and you can switch between the two browsers.
I also have been using a program called Spyware Blaster that stops spy-ware from being downloaded on your system. When I downloaded and executed the program I had 333 files on my system that I was unaware of including g*tor.

Ina, Hey! My name is Chris and I work for a large video game retailer. Just wanted to let you know that we had a chargeback situation that you didn't warn against in your newsletter.
One of Paypal's lesser known rules in the Seller Protection Guidelines is that simple delivery confirmation on shipments is only acceptable as proof of shipment for payments in dispute up to $250 US (this amount includes all shipping & handling, insurance, and other fees you may add to the final value). Any payments over $250 must be sent to a confirmed address with Signature Confirmation, otherwise you'll still lose your case. Trust me, we learned this one the hard way. Anyways, keep up the good work!

Dear Auction bites, Can I tell you how much I enjoy your snip-its of auction and business news, there is always something I can learn from your emails. The one things so many of my friends and students believe is that Ebay changes format too often, we hate the new headings, it does nothing for the page. When they change format, with the idea of making things more efficient, it means if you do not sell on Ebay month after month, you have to start re-training yourself all over again. If you are not a real computer wizard, this can be a real hassle, so many of us would just wish they would leave well enough alone. I guess those Ebay computer nerds are like road builders, no matter if a road is not needed they have to keep building one to keep themselves in business.
