New Canoe University Adds Digital Photography Course for eBay Sellers

New Canoe University, an online university dedicated to teaching practical skills that can be immediately applied to starting a home-based or small business, announced a digital photography course for eBay sellers. The course is based on "Snappy Auction Photos: The Online Auction Seller's Guide to Digital Photography," a book written by David Steiner, President of AuctionBytes.com.

Bellamax and a number of university studies confirm that auction listings with high quality images achieve a 10%-15% higher closing bid than auctions with poor images. The new course is taught by Leland Harden, an eBay veteran seller, author, and co-founder of New Canoe University. "Snappy Auction Photos" serves as the basis for the seven lectures and textbook for the course. The lectures, which are each approximately 25 minutes in duration, are entitled:

  • Lecture 1: Choosing the Right Equipment
  • Lecture 2: Preparing to Shoot
  • Lecture 3: Effective Backgrounds and Props
  • Lecture 4: The Basics of Good Lighting
  • Lecture 5: Photo-Editing Software and Tips
  • Lecture 6: Image Hosting and Uploading Your Images
  • Lecture 7: Protecting Yourself from Image Theft & Copyright Infringement

The lectures include reviews of and links to tools, services, and product sources to firmly supply aspiring eBay sellers with the answers and resources needed to effectively create quality digital images of their products for their auction listings.

Beyond the innovative, Flash-based, "talking slides" of the lectures, students actively participate in discussions and collaborate with their fellow learners and the instructor. "We endeavor to create a friendly online learning atmosphere where students are encouraged to collaborate with one another and enhance their learning experience," said Leland Harden, Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement and Instructor at New Canoe University.

"I have always been passionate about creating good digital images for my auctions and sharing those techniques through my books," said David Steiner, "I am pleased that New Canoe University chose to create a course utilizing my book as its text and enhance the content with its innovative elearning technology."

The course costs $47 and includes access to the lectures and the online study groups for 6 months, and the ebook, "Snappy Auction Photos: The Online Auction Seller's Guide to Digital Photography."

New Canoe University was founded in January 2003 with a mission to be the leading online provider of training in practical skills that can be immediately applied by students to start small or home-based businesses.

NCU currently offers the courses, "Taking the First Steps to eBy Success," "How to Become an eBay Auction Power Seller," "How, What and Where to Buy Wholesale Products to Sell on eBay" and other courses related to the entrepreneurial arts.
