1) UK Auctionline Holds Online-Auction Training Seminar in London
By Ina Steiner
Reminder: AuctionBytes does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud is becoming widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

By Ina Steiner
WildGopher.com is a new "buy/sell site" with a format similar to online auctions with Make an Offer and Buy It options and online payment integration. It offers free NetStores (online stores), and an HTML studio for visitors to learn and save html work. Tom Kluge says, "Our biggest draw currently are the used books and collectibles/sportscards sections. Also the free local ads."

4) Disabled Online Users Association to Exhibit at eBay Live Conference
By Ina Steiner
The Disabled Online Users Association (DOUA) will exhibit at the eBay Live conference in New Orleans in June. The DOUA members will be handing out promotional bags and explaining their mission of bringing hope and technology to the differently-abled, and how they will expand their reach globally throughout 2004. The DOUA teaches individuals how to conduct profitable ecommerce while working their own hours in a comfortable anonymous setting among millions of other eBay sellers. DOUA mentors take clients through every aspect of the eBay auction-selling process with an emphasis on how to set prices, create and edit pictures, choose categories and write descriptions. The DOUA is supported by AuctionEthics.com, private donations and volunteers. Individual and corporate sponsorship opportunities are still available, request additional information at sponsorship@doua.info..

6) USPS Business Line
By Ina Steiner
Someone on the OTWA forum (http://digbig.com/3wde) pointed out a service USPS is rolling out called "Business Line." It allows businesses to get a special card that lets them stand in a separate line at the post office. I called USPS customer service for more information. The rep told me the service, which started in June 2003, isn't in our area yet. If anyone has any experience with this, let me know.
Here's what the USPS Web site says (not very enlightening):
Whether you work at a local retail shop or are an owner of an online business, as a business person your shipping needs are probably different than a residential customer. That's why we've created the US Postal Service Business Line - to serve customers like you, that require more personalized service.
At the US Postal Service Business Line window, you can take advantage of the personalized service you'll receive from a specialized retail sales and service associate that can:
Offer customized shipping advice and information to better meet your needs;
Help you mail and send packages more efficiently;
Provide you with solutions for reaching your customers more effectively;
Show you how you can build stronger relationships with your customers;
For a location near you contact 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).
