I discovered an interesting Blog called Knarf.ca http://www.knarf.ca written by a Canadian eBayer named Frank. Frank talks about his experiences selling on eBay and includes some interesting links. (Blogs are online journals.) This is the only eBay Blog I've seen from the Seller's point-of-view.
eBay's user conference, eBay Live, is coming up in late June. The registration price will go up on April 17, so if you are going, be sure to register before then http://www.ebay.com/ebaylive. From what I understand, the hotels in New Orleans are filling up fast. It's a more expensive city than Orlando, where last year's conference was held. People are chatting about eBay Live 2004 here: http://forums.ebay.com/db1/forum.jsp?forum=112. As usual, AuctionBytes will be covering the event and bringing you all the breaking news from the conference.
There was some confusion over something I said in my last editorial. A few readers wrote in asking why I include links in my newsletter emails if I am complaining about that very issue. The answer is that I don't include links to sign-in pages. The reference was to companies that include links to their own site where one is supposed to log in, i.e., PayPal, eBay, CitiBank,...
I've been writing about hoax emails for 2 years. It's frustrating that the scammers keep one step ahead! I would hope that if anyone received an email purporting to be from AuctionBytes that asked them to reveal sensitive information, they would immediately delete it. It's very easy to disguise the "from" line of an email, it's very easy to set up "fake" Web sites. Stay on your guard and be sure to use an automated anti-virus program. It's really not optional these days.
We've got a great line-up in today's issue. Mark O'Neill fills us in on selling "Services" on eBay; I got the scoop on the USPS Business Line; Contributing Editor Michele Alice does a timely review of political campaign memorabilia; and I take a look at LiveAuctioneers.com, a service for auction houses that lets them Webcast their "real-life" auctions on eBay Live Auctions. (If you missed it, Friday's Newsflash contained an article about GoAntiques ventures into eBay Live Auctions at
http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y04/m04/i02/s01.)
And today's the beginning of Daylight Savings - if you're in North America, don't forget to change your clocks 1 hour ahead, and change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
