This & That: Online Auction Roundup
1) PayCodes - Coupons to Keep Your Customers Coming Back
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud is becoming widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

Here's an interesting idea that allows sellers to give discounts to their PayPal-paying customers. For a $15/year flat fee, Paycodes allows its members to generate an unlimited number of discount codes that they can insert in their auction, storefront or eCommerce Web Site listings.

When a customer makes a purchase, they go to the PayCodes site, enter the item description, cost of the item, and the unique discount code they received, into the fields on the PayCodes home page. The customer is then redirected to the seller's PayPal Checkout page displaying the discounted amount.

PayCodes CEO and founder, Dean Hartmann, told AuctionBytes that no customer information is collected by PayCodes, and that all the information entered on the checkout page goes directly to PayPal.

A brand-new feature on the PayCodes site allows members to create printable coupons that can be included in packages that can be used by customers for future purchases.
