This & That: Online Auction Roundup
1) Case Study on Etailer Adagio Teas
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud is becoming widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

MarketingSherpa is one of my favorite places to get case studies on Web and ecommerce marketing. You can subscribe to a number of free email newsletters from MarketingSherpa and ContentBiz, their sister site. One of this month's case studies is an interesting look at a small tea etailer called Adagio Teas. MarketingSherpa outlines the strategy the Adagio Teas used to create and grow the business. There is free access to the article until August 13. http://www.marketingsherpa.com/sample.cfm?contentID=2779

2) eBay Stores
By Ina Steiner

Beth Cox writes on "Making Your eBay Store Search-Savvy, Part Two" in the July 22, 2004 issue of Ecommerce-Guide.com: http://digbig.com/4bmpq

3) My Auction Gallery
By Ina Steiner

Using "My Auction Gallery," you can insert a link in your eBay auctions and customers can see a page of thumbnail photos and titles of your current auctions. If you go to the site, you can click on "Examples" and see a list of some sellers who are using it http://digbig.com/4bmxe. Clicking on "Details" explains how it works and the pricing. The company wrote to tell me they also have plans to expand their service offerings over the coming year. http://mygallery.timegonebuy.com

4) Zagat's-Style Guide to Furniture Shopping
By Ina Steiner

Very interesting article about Jennifer Litwin, a "Chicago furniture maven who is writing a Zagat's-style guide book that rates and reviews furniture stores around the country." The article, "Writer shops around and finds city is a seat of furniture style," is from the August 5 issue of the Boston Globe and was written by Linda Matchan. http://digbig.com/4bmtp

5) Shipping Insurance Restrictions
By Ina Steiner

Another cautionary tale about what shipping companies do NOT cover with their insurance plans. Do your homework when sending expensive items. (Thanks to the reader who sent me this.) http://digbig.com/4bmxs

6) eBay Category Changes for August
By Ina Steiner

eBay will be updating the category structure in mid-August. http://digbig.com/4bmrc

You may quote up to 200 words of any article on the condition that you attribute the article to AuctionBytes.com and either link to the original article or to www.AuctionBytes.com.
