By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud is becoming widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

eBay posted an announcement on its Canadian Announcement Board informing users that U.S. Customs has begun more aggressively enforcing existing laws requiring "ultimate recipient identification" information on packages crossing U.S. borders (http://www2.ebay.com:80/aw/marketing-ca.shtml#2004-11-03101534). eBay summarized how this would impact the majority of eBay transactions and pointed to the Customs Web site for more information. http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/xp/cgov/import/cargo_summary/ult_consignee.xml
