This & That: Online Auction Roundup
1) Buying & Selling Sports Collectibles on eBay
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud is becoming widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

Bill Froloff has written "Buying & Selling Sports Collectibles on eBay." This is an excellent guide for people new to buying and selling sports collectibles on eBay, extremely well written and comprehensive! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1592005020/auctionbytescom

2) eBay Insider Trading
By Ina Steiner

Interesting tool at MSN Money allows you to see a summary of stock purchases and sales by top eBay executives and directors. I noticed it doesn't show all types of stock transactions (gifts of stock don't appear), you can see all SEC filings on the SEC Web site (http://www.sec.gov).

3) IRS Seeks to Audit More Small Businesses in 2005
By Ina Steiner

Audits of small businesses (those with less than $10 million in assets) dropped to 7,290 in 2004 from 13,680 in 2003. The IRS Commissioner said he intends to increase the number of audits for small businesses in 2005 (http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=131282,00.html). The IRS has a section on its site for small businesses and self-employed at http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/index.html. You can search for forms and instructions, which are available in PDF files. AuctionBytes wrote about taxes in 2001:
