This & That: Online Auction Roundup
1) FastLister Tool for Listing Media Items
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud has become widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

********

From the developers of BidRobot comes an eBay listing tool for books, CDs and DVDs. FastLister is still in beta (test) mode, and developer Chuck Eglinton said he's adding more features. Eglinton claims you can use FastLister.com to immediately list your Books, CDs and DVDs at eBay in 10 seconds or less. http://www.FastLister.com

5) Online Directory of Offline Auctions: AuctionZip.com
By Ina Steiner

AuctionZip.com says it has the largest database of "live auctions" (on-site auctions with auctioneers, as opposed to online auctions) in the nation. Steve Johnson of AuctionZip said they currently have over 3,200 auctions listed by 1,800 auctioneers and had approximately 100,000 unique visitors to the site last month. The site has been online a little longer than a year (it officially launched January 1, 2004) and generates revenue through paid advertising on the sides of the pages. http://www.auctionzip.com

8) New eBay Books
By Ina Steiner

Here are two new eBay books that caught my eye this week.

"eBay Your Business: Maximize Profits and Get Results," by Janelle Elms, Michael Bellomo, and Joel Elad Publisher (Osborne/McGraw-Hill)

Blurb: "The book illustrates how businesses can expand their operations to eBay. Intended for readers within established businesses, big or small, who are interested in growing sales and finding new avenues for the company, this book explains how to integrate eBay into any organization's infrastructure sales, marketing, accounting, inventory, and order fulfillment and even how to reduce operating costs by purchasing equipment and supplies from eBay." http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0072257113/auctionbytescom

----

"Building Your eBay Traffic the Smart Way," by Joseph T. Sinclair Publisher (Amacom)

Blurb: "Using the power of datafeeds (a simple technology that lets you feed information about your product to other online retailers), you'll instantly put your merchandise in front of millions more people who are ready to buy. Couple that astonishing leap with the author's proven tips for dynamic marketing, advertising, photography, business management, and more, and you'll see a truly huge boost in your online visibility - not ot mention your bottom line results." http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0814472699/auctionbytescom

12) uShip Sets up Categories for Shipping
By Ina Steiner

uShip, an online marketplace for shipping and moving, has introduced broad shipping categories that allow members to better target their shipment to movers and carriers who specialize in delivering those items. Shippers choose the appropriate category to list their items. Once listed, these items are viewed by drivers, with different specialties, from all over the country. New shipping categories include: Vehicles and Boats, Special Care items (Piano's, Art, Antiques, etc.), Livestock and Agriculture, People and Pets, Commercial Freight, General Goods, Labor Help, Office Moves, and Household Moves. http://www.uship.com
