Think about the skills you need as a seller. Photographer, researcher, copywriter, customer service rep, packer, shipper, webmaster - and the list goes on. Hire a person to handle each aspect of selling online, and you couldn't afford to run the business.
So why do we do it? Besides being gluttons for punishment, the common bond that successful online sellers seem to share is that they love working for themselves. They love dictating their own hours, and reaping the benefits of the hard work that they pour into their businesses.
One of the reasons that David and I have enjoyed publishing AuctionBytes for the past 6 years is that we've always felt we're talking to an audience that shares the same entrepreneurial spirit that we do. We hope we can help readers, and we also really like working for ourselves.
To that end, we have quite a few exciting things in the pipeline for AuctionBytes before the end of the year. Some of them I can't announce until they're a little closer to launch, but here's a hint - think multimedia. I've also been busy working on a book about eBay data tools. The book looks at services like Terapeak, Sellathon ViewTracker, DeepAnalysis and Andale Research Tools and will be out in December from Osborne McGraw-Hill.
We started publishing a special hot list in AuctionBytes Newsflash created for us by Terapeak. If you haven't seen it, here's a link to the latest one: http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m08/i03/s05.
David has been busy with many of the upcoming site enhancements, the first being some very cool additions to our Buyers Market Classifieds Section, (http://www.auctionbytes.com/buyersmarket). Not only do paid classifieds ($25/year) get rotation in both of our email newsletters, but now they will get 125x125 banner rotation on our home page! Current Buyers Market advertisers can check out the new feature in their control panel. It's very neat and puts your ad out in front of hundreds of thousands of people that visit AuctionBytes monthly!
We've got a great issue lined up today, thanks to our freelance writers who scout out tools and techniques to save you time and help you make money selling online.
Thanks for reading.
