Edith Reynolds has generously offered to host a book-signing for my new book, called "Turn eBay Data Into Dollars: Tools and Techniques to Make More Money on Every Transaction."
Everyone is invited to join us at The John Bale Book Company in Waterbury, Connecticut, on April 29 at 2 pm. If you'd like to drop in and say hello to Edith and me, we would love to chat! Buying a copy is completely optional, of course, but if you buy a book (or bring a copy with you), I'll be happy to sign it. You can also feel free to spend some time browsing the wonderful collection of antiquarian books you won't find anyplace else.
Edith, who is also Editor of the Bookologist, and her husband Dan Gaeta opened The John Bale Book Company in 1992 and moved their bookstore to its new location in 2003. Edith wrote an article 3 years ago about the initial renovations they made to the building (http://digbig.com/4hdhd), and I'm eager to see what changes they have made since then, including the addition of a new cafe. I hope you can join us. Directions are online here (http://digbig.com/4hdhe).
To whet your appetite, I'm including an excerpt from the book in today's issue. Chapter 10 talks about how to apply eBay data to your marketing strategies, and I'm including the section on cross-promoting your listings. I've broken it down into several parts to make it easier to read. I hope you enjoy it!
State regulation of eBay sellers again made headlines this week - this time in Louisiana. Regulators in some states have been forcing eBay consignment sellers to either get auctioneers' licenses or comply with pawnshop or consignment-store regulations. In many cases, regulators say they are simply attempting to bring businesses into compliance with existing laws - and therein lies the problem. Regulators are trying to pigeonhole eBay sellers into definitions created prior to the creation of the Internet. Look for more information in the article in today's issue.
eBay's new marketplace eBay Express is expected to launch in a matter of weeks. I interviewed ChannelAdvisor CEO Scot Wingo to get his opinions about the new site and what it means for sellers. Scot talks about the issue of sending items to unconfirmed addresses, a requirement for having listings appear on eBay Express. He said some sellers are adding a second eBay account to try selling on eBay Express so that they don't have to send to unconfirmed addresses with their main eBay.com account.
