This & That: Online Auction Roundup
1) eBay CEO & President Auction the Shirts off Their Backs
By Ina Steiner

Reminder: AuctionBytes does not endorse the products and services featured in the "This & That" column, which often features new Web sites. (Anyone can set up a Web site.) Fraud has become widespread in the online auction world, and you should think twice before giving private information or User IDs and passwords to any third party.

eBay CEO Meg Whitman and President of eBay North America Bill Cobb listed their staff shirts from eBay Live with eBay Giving Works to raise money for charity. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Hurricane Katrina Relief and Rebuilding Efforts and Autism/Sensory Processing Disorder Research and Care. http://digbig.com/4kpkx

2) Ability to Set Buyer Requirements for Specific eBay Items
By Ina Steiner

Until now, your Buyer Requirements selections would apply to all of your listings at once. This new feature allows you to set your Buyer Requirements selections on an item-specific basis. http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200606131659292.html

3) Federation of eBay Businesses
By Ina Steiner

eBay PowerSeller Andrew Dudley of the UK has established the Federation of eBay Businesses (FOEB). According to the website, the aim of the FOEB is to bring professional eBay sellers together and to speak in a collective voice. By working alongside eBay the FOEB seeks to promote the positive aspects of trading within the eBay community. All fellow members have a voice and the founding members represent the fellow members to the UK media. Andrew Dudley was profiled in AuctionBytes in 2005 (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y204/m12/abu0132/s03).< br> http://www.foeb.org.uk

4) Resource for eBay Drop-off Stores
By Ina Steiner

"Am I The Only One" is an information source for eBay drop off store franchisees. The website was started by Gene and Karen, a couple who owned a franchised drop-off store in Georgia and became disillusioned. They are currently in litigation with the franchisor, they report. "Our mission will be a success if we can keep one more victim from loosing their home, family, or life savings." http://www.amitheonlyone.org

5) How can I start an eBay blog for my eBay store?
By Ina Steiner

Dave Taylor of AskDaveTaylor.com has an excellent guide for creating an eBay Blog. http://digbig.com/4kpjw

6) Collectible News from the eBay Live Conference
By Ina Steiner

eBay announced Collector's Corner (http://www.ebay.com/collectorscorner) and MyCollectibles (http://www.ebay.com/mycollectibles) during eBay Live. You can read two blogs by writers who attended the 4th annual Collectibles Industry Summit that immediately preceded eBay Live. One is by Barb Crews, the About.com Guide to Collectibles (http://collectibles.about.com/od/ebay/a/ebsummit0606.htm). Barb says this year's theme was "Collectibles 2.0: Collecting and the Social Web." The other is written by Missy Sullivan, the founder and editor of The Forbes Collector (http://artmarketinsider.com/2006/06/inside-scoop-new-moves-by-ebay).

You may quote up to 200 words of any article on the condition that you attribute the article to AuctionBytes.com and either link to the original article or to www.AuctionBytes.com.
