Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to ina@auctionbytes.com and we may publish your story.
WOW! I guess it depends what you mean by "online."
Of course there is ebay, and my first ebay sale was in April 1998, when I sold a few computer reference books. But I recall, back in 1983, being an active member of the Compuserve collector forum and selling a silver dollar on the Compuserve coin collectors forum, and later, a Captain Kirk autograph on the autograph forum. No, let's keep going. I remember now. In 1975 while at CUNY, I sold some computer science textbooks while communicating with a fellow classmate using wylbur. And before that, sometime around 1968, I brought a small stamp collection to a local stamp dealer in Brooklyn, and I recall he started typing away at his teletype, which I guess can be considered "online". I'll never forget that experience. The stress of listening to that teletype machine churn away, and wondering what would happen. Then, after about 15 minutes, someone sent him back a message and I left his shop with $25.00.
Thanks for the memories!
